Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church began as a Mission in 1972 under the leadership of Rev. Atwood Williams, Sr., with his wife, Lady Marva, faithfully by his side in their home. As the Mission grew, it was officially established and in 1973 moved to 6050 Swope Parkway, meeting in the basement of Lady Marva’s cousin’s home. On May 20, 1973, the church relocated to 2418 Swope Parkway in Kansas City, Missouri, and later, in 1976, to 5743 Prospect Avenue. In 1979, Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church was officially incorporated.
